Weekend road accidents claim 8 lives in WC

JOHANNESBURG - Eight people have died in separate crashes on Western Cape roads since the start of the weekend.

In one incident, three people were killed and 11 others injured when the taxi they were travelling in lost control near Uniondale yesterday.

Authorities says a number of pedestrians also died in incidents in Milnerton, Citrusdal and Observatory.

Provincial Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said, "Three people died in a taxi crash, one passenger was killed in Vredenburg, another in Oudtshoorn and then we had another three pedestrians that were knocked down."
