Maritzburg Utd 0-0 Jomo Cosmos

Cosmos regained promotion to the premiership after winning the promotion playoffs against Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows and were hoping to hand the Team of Choice back to back defeats, after they were knocked out of the MTN 8 by Kaizer Chiefs last week.

The two teams' result was one of three goalless stalemates in the opening round of league fixtures, after Mamelodi Sundowns and defending champions Chiefs were both held by Platinum Stars and Chippa United respectively.

Cosmos are playing in the top flight for the first time since the 2011/2012 season, after being relegated along with Santos, who haven't been able to make a return since that season.

Cosmos will next face Golden Arrows on 23 August, who also made their way back to the PSL after a season down in the National First Division, while Maritzburg will take on Ajax Cape Town at the Cape Town Stadium.
