Armed robbers hit jewellery store in Melville
The gang entered the shop, held the owner at gun point and fired several shots as they made their getaway.
JOHANNESBURG - Police are searching for three suspects who shot and wounded the owner of a jewellery store during a robbery at the Campus Square mall in Melville.
Police say the suspects fled the shop with jewellery worth thousands of rands in a black BMW.
The gang entered the shop, held the owner at gun point and then fired several shots as they made their getaway.
The police's Lungelo Dlamini said, "We are looking for three men who escaped in a BMW."
In a recent case of mall robberies, a robber was shot and wounded by his intended victim at the Festival Mall in Kempton Park on Gauteng's East Rand last month.
Police say three suspects approached the man and smashed his car window, thinking he had withdrawn a large sum of money from the bank.
The victim, who had already given the cash to a colleague, was armed.
He shot and wounded one of the suspects before the remaining two fled the scene.
