Public Order Police members deployed to Phalaborwa
Five vehicles have been torched, but the reason for the protests is not yet known.
JOHANNESBURG - Three trucks and two bakkies have been set alight during a protest on the outskirts of Phalaborwa in Limpopo.
Police say they have deployed additional members of the Public Order Policing Unit to the area.
While the protest started yesterday evening, authorities say the exact reason for the demonstration is not yet known.
The police's Ronel Otto says the R71 road has now been partially reopened.
"We have not arrested anybody yet, but our investigations are continuing. Our Public Order Policing Members have been deployed in the area to quell the situation and to prevent further incidents from flaring up."
