Diepsloot man beats baby & girlfriend with hammer, arrested
Police say the man along with an alleged accomplice was arrested three weeks after the attack.
JOHANNESBURG - A Diepsloot man has been arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend and a three-month-old baby with a hammer.
The child died in hospital.
Police say the 25-year-old along with an alleged accomplice was arrested in Braamfischer three weeks after the alleged attack.
He's expected to face murder and assault charges.
The police's Daniel Mavimbela says the man has already appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court and waived his right to apply for bail.
"The suspect allegedly accused the mother of cheating and had the idea that he was the deceased baby's biological father which seems to be the reason behind the assault."
Police have not been able to clarify what charges the other man will face.
