CAPE TOWN - Western Cape ANC official Andile Lili has been arrested.

It's believed he has been charged for inciting violence.

Lili made controversial comments outside a Cape Town court this week calling on communities to kill criminals.

The ANC's provincial secretary, Faiez Jacobs said, "From our side we'll certainly investigate. I just don't know any details of what was actually said, but we'll certainly investigate. We'll discuss it internally and we'll, at appropriate time, make announcements."

The party has also condemned Lili's utterances.

Lili, who is also a leader of the Ses'khona People's Rights Movement, called on communities to take the law into their own hands following a brief court appearance earlier this week

He told the crowd the justice system's failing the poor.
