‘Many people don’t know how much power they’re using’
City Power's load limiting head says people aren’t aware of where their power is going.
JOHANNESBURG - City Power on Wednesday said its smart meter load limiting programme has shown that many people simply don't know how much power they're using at one time during peak periods.
The load limiting programme started last week.
It sees meters flicking the power on and off for five minutes as a warning that if people don't want to be switched off completely they must switch off some appliances.
City Power's load limiting head Aubrey Mochela says many people are just not aware of where their power is going.
"There are many people who have back rooms and have cottages but they don't count that and some have two geysers in their homes but they don't know that."
