SSA 'still investigating' CIA claims
A blog post claimed Julius Malema, Thuli Madonsela, Joseph Mathunjwa & Lindiwe Mazibuko are CIA agents.
JOHANNESBURG - The State Security Agency (SSA) has said its probe into claims that Julius Malema, Thuli Madonsela, Joseph Mathunjwa and Lindiwe Mazibuko were spies is still ongoing four months after it was started.
The agency began the investigation after an online blog post claimed that the four were working for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
They've denied the claims, saying this is a political attempt to discredit them.
When the SSA started this probe it said it would make its findings public.
It also said it had to investigate the claims just because they had been made, even if this blog site did not offer any proof to substantiate them.
Now, four months later, the agency will only say it's still investigating.
This probe has led to claims that the agency is being abused for political reasons.
