Operation Fiela seizes R800k worth of counterfeit goods
Thirteen premises and more than a 100 vehicles were searched in Parow.
CAPE TOWN - Police seized counterfeit goods worth nearly R800,000 as part of Operation Fiela in Parow at the weekend.
Officers swooped in on the Northern Suburbs community on Saturday, targeting sites notorious for drug activity and dealing in counterfeit goods.
Thirteen premises and more than a 100 vehicles were searched.
The police's Frederick Van Wyk said members also issued fines to the value of more than R21,000.
"Over 190 people were searched, which resulted in the arrest of one male and one female suspect in their 30s, for being in possession of tik, mandrax and dagga worth a substantial amount. With the assistance of the Department of Home Affairs, 10 undocumented persons were also arrested."
The controversial joint operation has been the most successful operation in the seizing of criminal elements from known hotspots.
