Load shedding: Stage 2 kicks in at 8am
Eskom says the system is constrained because of a shortage of generating capacity.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has announced it will be implementing stage 2 load shedding from 8am this morning.
The utility said the system is constrained because of a shortage of generating capacity as some units are currently on maintenance.
Power cuts are expected to last until 10pm tonight.
The utility has blamed constrained diesel supply caused by pipeline transfer problems from PetroSA at one of its power stations for the increased demand in electricity.
Eskom on Friday implemented stage one and stage two load shedding from noon until 10 in the evening.
It said some of the generators are not performing optimally and there's been an increase in electricity demand due to the cold weather.
