Eskom implements stage 2 load shedding
The power utility says load shedding is expected over the weekend due a constrained power system.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has implemented stage two load shedding from 8am and it's expected to last until 10pm tonight.
The utility has blamed constrained diesel supply caused by pipeline transfer problems from PetroSA at one of its power stations for the increased demand in electricity.
The utility on Friday implemented stage one and stage two load shedding from noon until 10 in the evening.
It said some of the generators are not performing optimally and there's been an increase in electricity demand due to the cold weather.
Eskom's Khulu Phasiwe said, "Because we have been running our diesel generators over a long period of time over the duration of this week it means that over the weekend we'll have to replenish them."
