JOHANNESBURG - Police said they're searching for four suspects after 50-year-old Adam Balim was fatally wounded in a robbery at a parking lot in Sandton yesterday afternoon.

Well known economist Goolam Balim confirmed to Eyewitness News that his brother Adam was rushed to hospital where he died a while later.

He was with his wife when the shooting took place, but she was not hurt.

Police said they've extensively searched the parking lot on Rivonia Road for evidence which may lead them to Balim's killers.

Netcare 911's Santi Steinman said paramedics tried their best to save him.

"The man was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital for urgent medical care that he required."

Police said Balim and his wife were approached by the four suspects, two of whom were armed.

The police's Katlego Mogale said, "As they approached, he fired shots at them realising that they were armed. The suspects shot back, injuring him."

She said the suspects stole his wife's watch before they fled the scene.
