Hope, courage & triumph - the MTN-Qhubeka story
MTN-Qhubeka powered by Samsung has inspired hope in several African countries.
JOHANNESBURG - It's a moving story of hope, courage and triumph. It's a story that has gripped South Africa and other African countries as the first team from the continent, MTN-Qhubeka powered by Samsung, competes against the world's best in the cycling's premier race - the Tour de France.
While the team may be competing in its first Le Tour, it has already registered notable achievements, with Eritrean Daniel Teklehaimanot becoming the first African to win the King of the Mountain polka dot jersey after stage six. Days later Steven Cummings won stage 14, fittingly on Mandela Day.
In a video documentary entitled Lycra in Africa: A cycling dream come true, Australian broadcaster SBS details the journey of several Qhubeka riders.
