JOHANNESBURG - Anti-apartheid icon Ahmed Kathrada says former President Nelson Mandela would be proud to see the generosity people showed on Saturday.
The world celebrated Mandela Day by doing charitable deeds for 67 minutes.
Politicians, business leaders and members of the public volunteered at various shelters and children's homes honouring Madiba's legacy.
His fellow Rivonia trialist says Mandela would have been proud.
"These activities benefits the poor people and that was his priority. When he became president he gave a percentage of his salary towards children."
