Springboks take 6-points lead against Australia
Two Handre Pollard penalties got the Springboks on the board in their opening Rugby Championship match.
JOHANNESBURG - South Africa took a six point lead into the break in Brisbane. In a very tight game, two Handre Pollard penalties got the Springboks on the board in their opening Rugby Championship match.
The Wallabies hit back with a try late in the half as Quade Cooper's inside ball put Adam Ashley-Cooper into space as he sretched over the line to score the match's first try.
With a penalty advantage, Pollard chipped a ball into space behind the Australian defensive line. Bryan Habana retrieved the ball before Willie Le Roux offloaded to Eben Etzebeth who crashed over for his first Test try.
Worryingly for Heyneke Meyer, Victor Matfield limped off injured with what seemed to be a hamstring injury.
He was replaced by Lood De Jager.
