Counterfeit shoes might be distributed to the poor
Vanessa Ferguson, Director at DM Kisch, discusses if counterfeit goods seized by Sars can be distributed to the poor rather than be destroyed.
CAPE TOWN - It was reported over the weekend that over 14,000 pairs of suspected counterfeit sports shoes were seized by South African Revenue Service (Sars) customs officials at the Lebombo Border Post.
The brands sported by the shoes were Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars, Adidas, Nike and Puma.
A Cape Talk listener called in to suggest that the goods be rather distributed to the poor instead of being destroyed.
