CCTV footage to shed light on Claremont assault
Sanet de Lange (18) was allegedly assaulted after getting into a metered taxi.
CAPE TOWN - CCTV footage could shed light on exactly what happened to a young Welgelegen woman who was allegedly assaulted after getting into a metered taxi.
Sanet de Lange (18) was out partying with her friends at Tiger Tiger in Claremont on Thursday when her night took a frightening turn.
Police officers found her lying on the ground, not far from where she was picked up, with a head injury.
De Lange's brother Marius Strydom took to social media to share his sister's story, and a picture of her blood stained face.
He said she was assaulted after getting into a metered taxi.
But it's unclear why her attackers turned on her.
When officers from the Rondebosch Police Station found the 18-year-old, she was unable to explain what happened.
They called an ambulance before paramedics took the disoriented woman to a nearby hospital.
Police said the young woman's family can open a case.
It's believed CCTV footage might assist investigators to establish who attacked her.
