The England international is on the verge of joining Manchester City and the deal is reportedly worth £49 million.
This would make Sterling the second most expensive British player.
Gareth Bale's £85,3 million move to Real Madrid remains at the top of the list.
Pardew and his team will jet into the Mother City for the Cape Town Cup which starts on 24 July.
Speaking to EWN Sport Pardew says there are a few factors must be taken in consideration regarding Sterling's transfer fee.
"Well, of course they [Man City] have bought one of the best young players and maybe the best young player we have at the moment, so he is going to command a huge fee. The Premier League is such that you need a certain amount of British players so that adds value also."
Pardew says Sterling can command such a fee.
"It's the biggest league in the world in terms of finance so all those things added together and that's why the fee is so high. He is an England international and this is a player that I am sure Liverpool didn't want to lose and Man City are very happy to have."
