Springboks hammer World XV 46-10
The Springboks led 22-10 at halftime as Damian de Allende opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
CAPE TOWN - Heyneke Meyer's Springbok squad got their international season to a convincing start at Newlands as they hammered a World XV team 46-10 on a cold Cape Town night.
They led 22-10 at halftime as Damian de Allende opened the scoring in the 10th minute, picking up from where he left off in his Super Rugby campaign for the Stormers.
Other first half scorers Eben Etzebeth and Willie le Roux for the host while Craig Burden scored what was probably a deserved try for the visitors.
The second half punctuated by le Roux scoring a further two tries as he completed a hat-trick while de Allende who was probably the best player on the night scored on the full time hooter. Cobus Reinach the other scorer as the Boks ran in seven tries
Perhaps the biggest cheer of the night though for Jean de Villiers, the Springbok captain playing the final 20 minutes and looked sharp particularly as he delivered the final pass for le Roux to score.
The Springboks now travel to Brisbane as they get their Rugby Championship campaign underway next week against the Wallabies before returning home to play games against the All Blacks and Argentina.
