CAPE TOWN - A woman believed to have been involved in the gruesome murder of a Mitchells Plain man will be appearing in court today on a charge of murder.

The 27-year old suspect is allegedly involved in the murder of Riedwaan Gadien whose head had been bludgeoned and body set alight earlier this week.

The woman handed herself over to Mitchells Plain police this week.

She had been on the run since neighbours told police they saw her fleeing from the scene on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the Rocklands neighbourhood watch who had helped police track her down are also expected to be present at the court appearance.

One member told Eyewitness News they simply want to know why Gadien was murdered.

The neighbourhood watch found her at a local shebeen, which led to her handing herself over to police.

She faces charges of murder.
