PRETORIA - Police management say the declassification of documents in the Richard Mdluli matter has been delayed because the court required specific information from the investigation officer which has not yet been obtained.

The Commercial Crimes Court on Monday struck the fraud case against him from the roll, after the state unsuccessfully asked for another postponement.

The state claimed it needed more time to declassify documents it required for its case.

Without delving into the details, police spokesperson Solomon Makgale says the court has requested particular information related to the classified documents.

"The Hawks will then enter into a discussion with the NPA with regards to the documents being sought."

He says this is not the end of the matter.

"As soon as the information is brought before the court then this matter will be re-enrolled."

Meanwhile, the case against former crime intelligence Solly Lazarus and Hein Barnard will continue in the Pretoria Regional Court on Friday.
