JOHANNESBURG - Local media is reporting that Ugandan-born and South African-based comedian David Kibuuka will join The Daily Show later this year.

The reports follow the appointment of South African comedian, Trevor Noah, who will take over the reins from Jon Stewart as host of the American show.

Kibuuka will reportedly join Noah and The Daily Show as a staff writer.

The Ugandan-born funny man is no stranger to comedy shows having worked with Loyiso Gola as a contributor on eTV's Late Night News.

Comedy Central Africa has congratulated Kibuuka as he sets out to help entertain America and the rest of the world alongside Noah.

Noah will make his debut as host on 28 September.
