450kg man responding well to treatment
He was moved into ICU after being diagnosed with double pneumonia, causing an infection in both lungs.
Yesterday evening, he was diagnosed with double pneumonia which caused an infection in both lungs.
La Grange was moved to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital earlier this week after being turned away by at least 10 hospitals to be treated for Ascities.
The disease causes a build-up of fluid around vital organs causing rapid weight gain.
The family's spokesperson Mark Porter says he's responding well to treatment.
"The update we received from the hospital is that Corrie's lungs have improved so he's responding to treatment. That is a good sign. But his kidneys are still under pressure."
WATCH: 450kg Jhb man finally admitted to hospital
Earlier this week, paramedics and neighbours had to use bed sheets and ropes to lift the 450kg man from his bed at his home.
The move was dangerous because of his weight and poor vitals.
His bed was also transported to the hospital in another vehicle with a trailer.
