Tax filing season has arrived
Almost 30,000 tax returns have been submitted via efiling since midnight.
JOHANNESBURG - The 2015 tax filing season for individuals has officially started.
Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene and South African Revenue Services Sars commissioner Tom Moyane this morning visited a branch in Pretoria to oversee operations.
Sars says almost 30,000 taxpayers have submitted their returns via efiling since the start of the 2015 tax season at midnight, while at least 7,300 others have visited their branches and mobile tax units across the country.
Nene has urged South Africans not to wait until the last day.
Moyane thanked staff members who had been up since the early hours of the morning.
"We would like to thank our staff for the enthusiasm they have shown and also the passion they are building back to our community."
The deadline for manual submissions is 30 September.
