CAPE TOWN - A police officer is due to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrates Court today to face charges of murder and attempted murder.

The constable is accused of shooting dead a colleague and wounding another, during an argument last week.

The three officers were off duty at the time.

The police's, Sibongile Soci, said the incident is being investigated by police watchdog, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

"The SAPS management in the Eastern Cape expressed their deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late member and further wished constable Thuthu a speedy recovery."
