Eskom implements stage one load shedding
Eskom has announced that it will implement rolling blackouts until 10pm.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has announced that it will implement stage one load shedding until 10pm this evening.
The power utility made the announcement on its Twitter account:
On Sunday, Eskom implemented stage two load shedding from 8am.
The utility said it needed to shed 2,000 megawatts from the national grid and warned of a whole day of power cuts.
On Saturday, the utility had to implement stage two load shedding due to a lack of generating capacity and the cold weather contributing to the high demand in power.
Despite the chilly weather, consumers have been asked to use electricity sparingly.
