Cold front to bring rain to Joburg this weekend

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has warned Johannesburg residents to prepare for a significant drop in temperatures this weekend as a cold front sweeps in from the west of the countr y.

A cut-off low pressure system is expected to sweep through the province bringing rainfall, scattered thundershowers and strong winds.

The Drakensberg and parts of the Eastern Cape will also experience snowfall before the system clears on Sunday.

The weather service's Jan Vermeulen said, "Tomorrow morning for Gauteng we expect fog patches and then later in the day partly cloudy to cloudy, with 30 percent chance of showers and thundershowers, mostly over the southern part."
