JOHANNESBURG: Grace Msyali works primarily as a housekeeper but came up with an interesting idea to help get extra money to raise and educate her son.
Msyali started Amazing Grace Gourmet, a free range eggs delivery service, where she goes door to door delivering eggs to businesses and homes in the Atlantic Seaboard and Cape Town CBD.
She said, "Working as a housekeeper, the cost of living is quite high and I couldn't make ends meet. I was always looking for something to do."
Msyali said she first got the idea to deliver eggs when her employer received a delivery of fish from Franschhoek.
"I thought this is a good idea and maybe I could do this. And I thought of doing free range eggs."
Msyali then started selling her free range eggs to her employer's friends.
She said the response was overwhelming.
"From there on, it started spreading by word of mouth and it just kept getting better."
She now takes orders via email or phone calls, and even uses WhatsApp.
Customers provide their address and the amount of eggs they want and then on every second Thursday, she goes door to door making her deliveries.
Msyali sources her eggs from a farm in Hemel en Aarde Valley near Hermanus .
While maintaining this service, she still works as a housekeeper.
