Missing Karoo lion spotted
The lion was spotted 3km away from the Karoo National Park.
CAPE TOWN - South African National Parks (SANParks) said the missing lion has been spotted 3km away from the Karoo National Park
It's believed the lion escaped from a hole in the fence at the national park.
SANParks' Fayrouch Ludick said the trackers have been joined by six tracker dogs and they're optimistic they will soon find the lion.
"The direct distance from where it escaped last was at least 3km away."
Last week, SANParks said the missing lion will not be taken back to its pride at the park.
Ludick said the lion was spotted by trackers, but they couldn't dart it because it was sitting in dense bushes.
She said when they do manage to tranquilise the lion, it will be sent back to the Karoo National Park but away from its pride because it's believed it left after some of the older lions bullied it out.
