Search for missing hiker Taro Spies called off
Wilderness Search and Rescue confirmed that the body found on Table Mountain was not that of Spies.
CAPE TOWN - The search for a missing hiker on Table Mountain has officially been called off.
Taro Spies disappeared while hiking over a month ago.
Wilderness Search and Rescue confirmed that the body which was found on the mountain this week was not that of Spies.
It's believed the deceased jumped to his death.
The unidentified body was spotted by a hiker on Wednesday.
Wilderness Search and Rescue's Johan Marais said although the search has been called off, their members have continued to be on the lookout.
"The search for Taro Spies has officially being called off, but members of Wilderness and Rescue whenever they go into the mountain they continue to look for signs or for any traces of him.
