Court views CCTV footage in Mthethwa trial
Artist Zwelethu Mthethwa is on trial for the murder of sex worker Nokuphila Khumalo in 2013.
CAPE TOWN - CCTV footage allegedly showing a local artist kicking and stomping a sex worker to death has been viewed in camera.
Zwelethu Mthethwa is currently on trial in the Western Cape High Court for the murder of Nokuphila Khumalo in April 2013.
The court is testing the credibility of the video in a trial-within-a-trial.
Maureen de Wet operates cameras at the tollgate industrial area and stockyard in Woodstock.
De Wet has told the court she's the only one with access to the recorders.
She has further testified that the night security guard alerted her to the incident that happened the previous evening in which a woman was allegedly murdered.
She says she viewed all the video footage of the incident and contacted the police.
The video was viewed in courtroom three, with only the judge, prosecutor, defence, accused and state witness allowed to view it.
