Heavy rains cause floods in WC, hundreds affected

CAPE TOWN - Hundreds of people have been affected by flooding caused by heavy rains in the Western Cape.
The inclement weather has brought misery to more than 1,000 residents in Strand, Khayelitsha, Delft and Gugulethu.
The inclement weather has been lashing the peninsula since Monday.
Disaster Risk Management's Charlotte Powell said, "Disaster Management will remain on high alert during this period. We'll also be monitoring informal settlements that have been reported flooded along with the Human Settlement department."
At the same time, Heavy rains have lashed parts of the Peninsula since the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The municipality put measures in place to reduce the risk of flooding and mud slides.
