JOHANNESBURG - Eskom says it won't be implementing any load shedding this morning.

Power cuts were experienced across the country over the weekend.

The utility does however warn the grid will only be under severe strain between 6pm and 9pm this evening warning that load shedding may kick in during peak hours.

Last week, acting CEO Brian Molefe addressed the Standing Committee on Appropriations in Parliament about some of the major challenges facing the utility.

He said Eskom has lost about 6,000 megawatts due to planned and unplanned outages, which has resulted in blackouts.

Added to that, the power utility has to raise billions of rand in debt this financial year and also catch up with a major backlog in maintenance work.
