Probe continues into qualifications of SA's ambassador to Japan
Mohau Pheko in February admitted in an interview that while her CV claimed she had a PhD, she didn’t.
JOHANNESBURG - Government on Tuesday said an investigation into the misrepresentation of qualifications by South Africa's ambassador to Japan, Mohau Pheko, is still underway.
Pheko in February admitted in a South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) interview that while her CV claimed she had a PhD she had not been awarded such a degree.
The matter was raised by an opposition Member of Parliament (MP) in the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Nomaindia Mfeketo told MPs there were outstanding details from one of the institutions Pheko had registered with.
"I didn't set a time limit for that investigation. It's still happening. There are details that need to be investigated from the school that she put in her [CV]."
