JOHANNESBURG - Wierdabrug police in Pretoria have confirmed they've opened up a disciplinary case against two cops who were photographed sleeping in their patrol vehicle at the weekend.

The picture of the two in full police uniform has been doing the rounds on social media, after a member of the public uploaded it on Monday.

The series of photos show two police officers leaning backwards in their marked patrol vehicle, fast asleep while parked outside a petrol station shop.

Wierdabrug police have identified the members as two constables who were on duty on Saturday night.

Their investigation has found that the vehicle was standing idle outside the shop for 20 minutes, just after 4am when the pictures are believed to have been taken.

The disciplinary case will be dealt with by the police's provincial office.
