NEW YORK - Trevor Noah will make his debut as host of The Daily Show in September for the South African comedian's new job, of a much-coveted spot on late night American television.

Jon Stewart will bid farewell to a position he has held for the past 17 years on 6 August. Noah is then set to take over hosting duties on 28 September.

Noah's Daily Show debut will happen shortly after Stephen Colbert, Stewart's former Comedy Central stablemate, takes over for David Letterman at the Late Show on 8 September.
