Sydney gunman hands himself over
The 28-year-old gunman was taken to hospital for assessment and remains under guard.
JOHANNESBURG - A 28-year-old man who barricaded himself in a Bondi apartment has handed himself over to police, bringing to an end a four-hour siege.
The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that police negotiators were called and assisted with the peaceful arrest of the man.
He was taken to hospital for assessment and remains under guard.
The drama played out on the day of an inquest into the man at the centre of the deadly Lindt Cafe siege less than six months ago in which two people were killed.
That inquest has so far heard that Haron Monis, the criminal who took 18 people hostage, had been craving recognition and success and was also troubled by serious mental health issues.
He was killed in a shootout with police last December bringing an end to the 17-hour hostage drama.
