JOHANNESBURG - Eskom at the weekend said it is closely monitoring its energy reserves following a week of load shedding.

The power utility said it expects improved conditions this week as it's managed to fill its diesel reserves.

Diesel shortages were identified as the source of last week's load shedding, and maintenance on generating units has reportedly also contributed to the daily rolling blackouts.

Eskom's Khulu Phasiwe said consumers can expect some relief this week.

"So far the good news is that some of our generating units are now back online and we are expecting a few others to come back online later. For the rest of the week, we should be in a better position going forward."
