Police arrest 13 in crime prevention operation

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have arrested 13 people and recovered 10 illegal firearms and ammunition during a crime prevention operation this weekend.

Authorities say the suspects were apprehended in various parts of the province following tip offs from community members.

Police say they are also investigating whether those arrested are linked to serious crimes.

The police's Lungelo Dlamini said, "They will be appearing in various magistrates courts tomorrow. They were arrested in Krugersdorp, Atteridgeville, Ivory Park, Eldorado Park, Vosloorus, Midrand and Hillbrow."
