Maitland High learners march for textbooks
The group of over 200 learners claim they don’t have school textbooks.
CAPE TOWN - A group of angry pupils from Maitland High School have staged a protest demanding textbooks.
The group of over 200 learners is demanding action from education officials.
Dozens of pupils disembarked a train at Cape Town Station, singing protest songs as they made their way to the Western Cape Education Department's head offices.
The learners are upset because they claim they don't have school textbooks.
"We don't have textbooks; all of the grades [don't have them]."
A provincial department official has apparently met with the learners and there's been an undertaking that the matter will be investigated.
