Operation Fiela hits Manenberg
Over 300 members from the police, metro police and army are part of the operation.
CAPE TOWN - More than 300 members from the police, metro police and the army are conducting raids in Manenberg on Thursday morning.
This forms part of government's Operation Fiela recently launched to clamp down on criminal activity.
Manenberg has been gripped by a deadly spate of gang violence over the past few weeks.
This morning's operation focused on drugs, illegal firearms and gangsterism among a rash of criminal activities that pose a threat to the community.
The police's Jeremy Vearey said, "We're executing our operation in Manenberg and we commenced at 3am and so far we ceased three firearms respectively from the Hard Livings and Dixie Boys gangs and we have arrested four people for those crimes."
