R750k drugs bust in Beaufort West

CAPE TOWN - Two people have been arrested in Beaufort West while allegedly trying to smuggle drugs worth around R750,000.

The pair was arrested after police officers pulled over a bus yesterday.

The police's Malcolm Pojie said, "We found in the luggage compartment bags containing tik, as well as 5,000 mandrax tablets. Both the suspects, a 36-year-old Nigerian citizen and the 17-year-old female accomplice are due to appear in the Beaufort West Magistrates Court."
