Alleged Mongrels gang boss arrested

The suspect is one of 16 people arrested on drug charges after narcotics valued at R31,000 were found on him.

CAPE TOWN - A suspected gang boss of one of Cape Town's notorious gangs, the Mongrels, has been arrested in Hanover Park.

Police say the man was taken into custody during an anti-crime operation in the area at the weekend.

Police have raided more homes over the past five days in the area and more than 100 other arrests have been made.

He is one of 16 people arrested on drug charges on Sunday.

Narcotics valued at R31,000 were found in his possession.

The man had previous brushes with the law as he was previously nabbed on charges of public violence and murder.
