CAPE TOWN - A warrant of arrest has been issued for an Eastern Cape mayor implicated in the Mandela Memorial fraud scandal.

Buffalo City Mayor Zukiswa Ncitha has allegedly violated bail conditions.

Ncitha and at least nine other officials are out on R10,000 bail each after they were arrested for allegedly misappropriating money meant for Nelson Mandela memorial services.

Buffalo City mayor's office has confirmed she's received a warrant of arrest for allegedly violating bail conditions.

Ncitha is charged with intimidating municipal manager Andile Fani, who is a key witness in the Mandela Memorial fraud case.

The Buffalo City council suspended Fani for alleged tender and financial irregularities.

But Fani claims these allegations were brought against him because he's blowing the whistle.

The mayor has until tomorrow to motivate in court why she should not be arrested.
