JOHANNESBURG - Police on Wednesday said they're making progress in their investigation into the murder of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.

Authorities have confirmed they're still busy investigating all leads and the case has been prioritised.

Meyiwa was shot and killed at the family home of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo last year in what has been described as a robbery gone wrong.

Last year, police questioned 13 people in connection with the shooting, but they were all later released.

Police arrested a 25-year-old man who they believed was the murderer.

The case was thrown out of court due to a lack of evidence against him.

A suspect who was apprehended had to also be released due to a lack of evidence.

Gauteng deputy police commissioner Vincent Leshabane said, "There is no new information but I can confirm that we are still busy and very serious about the case."
