JOHANNESBURG - Ailing power utility, Eskom, has announced that load shedding has moved from stage one to stage two.

The utility rolled out stage one load shedding at 5pm today.

Rolling blackouts will continue until 10pm this evening.

The utility says this is due to a shortage of generation capacity, as several units are out of service for maintenance.

Yesterday, Eskom said its 'maintenance festival' over the recent long weekends had been successful in terms of improving the performance of its generators.

Overall the utility has been able to avoid bulk power cuts.
