JOHANNESBURG - Power utility, Eskom, has announced that it will roll out stage one load shedding from 5pm until 10pm this evening.

The power giant announced the news on Twitter:

Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding from 17:00 today, which is likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.

Yesterday, Eskom said its 'maintenance festival' over the recent long weekends had been successful in terms of improving the performance of its generators.

Overall the utility has been able to avoid bulk power cuts.
