DA leadership debate set to air on kykNET
Maimane and James are expected to motivate why they believe they are best suited for the coveted position.
JOHANNESBURG - As the succession battle for the Democratic Alliance (DA)'s leadership continues, candidates for the top position are expected to face each other in a televised debate tonight.
Parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane and federal chair Wilmot James are expected to motivate why they believe they are best suited for the coveted position.
The exchange follows an announcement by leader Helen Zille that she will not run for re-election this month.
The debate is expected to be broadcast at 10pm on DStv's kykNET (channel 144).
Maimane says the discussion offers a fresh perspective on politics in South Africa.
"We believe we have ideas on how to take South Africa forward and we want to contest for them. I'm looking forward to being able to challenge some of my opponents' views on matters and ultimately communicate to South Africans about a future we want to build."
