CAPE TOWN - A Cape Town man is recovering in hospital after he was bitten by a shark at Port St. Johns at the weekend.
Twenty nine-year-old Mathieu Dasnois, a tour operator, was mauled by great white shark while he was testing new diving equipment.
The National Sea Rescue Institute's Craig Lambinon said, "The shark bit his hand, the boat came over to assist him, the shark reached from underneath him and grabbed his foot and pulled him away from the boat. The boat then went back again to try and rescue him again, it was only on the second attempt that they managed to get him on board the boat."
Eastern Cape Government Health Emergency Medical Staff were on hand to assist Mathieu.
Mathieu's injuries were treated and he was transported to hospital.
