CAPE TOWN - The surviving daughter of the Van Breda family seems to be in good spirits, according to the principal of her high school.

16-year-old Marli van Breda this week visited Somerset College to see her friends and teachers.

She was seriously wounded during the axe murder of her parents and older brother at their de Zalze Golf Estate home in Stellenbosch in January.

Somserset College executive head, Meg Fargher, says pupils and teachers enjoyed Marli van Breda's visit to the school.

"Her friends were very pleased to see her and it was lovely for us to see her."

Fargher says the visit was not long, but it was good to see Van Breda back on her feet and seemingly doing well.

Van Breda's skull had been fractured during the attack and she underwent neurosurgery.

Doctors say she suffers retrograde amnesia and cannot recall the night of the attack.
